LG’s mid-range smartphones are finally here

LG announced their new LIII series of smartphones way back in February before the madness of MWC, and after a few months the Korean company’s new midrange smartphones are finally in the Philippines.

LG L90

LG L70

LG L40

All three devices carry LG’s new Knock Code technology that we saw with their more expensive smartphones, the G2 Mini and the G Pro 2. If you’re not a fan of backreading, the Knock Code essentially allows you to lock and unlock your device with a series of taps on different corners of the display. In theory it sounds great, but in practice we found that it worked around 80% of the time on the first try, which means that there will be a time when you will have to repeat the code twice (or thrice).

As far as first impressions go, these new mid-range and entry-level smartphones feel alright, though we’re (predictably) more enamored with the L90 than with any of the other offerings, simply because it had a slightly different and more aggressive design than the two other devices.

As for prices go, you can expect to shell out  Php 8490 for the L70 and Php 4790 for the L40. Unfortunately, there is no price yet for the L90.
