Meet Samsung’s Gigantic Galaxy Note PRO 12.2 and Galaxy Tab PRO 12.2

Samsung’s supersized their tablets!

It looks like Samsung is experimenting on finding out just how big it can make their tablets – the Korean company has unveiled the Galaxy Note PRO and the Galaxy Tab PRO, both of which are absolutely gigantic, sized at around 12.2-inches. The Note PRO obviously offers the same S-pen functionality as it’s other Note siblings, and carries a 2560×1600 resolution display, for a pixel density of 247 ppi. It ain’t no slouch when it comes to power either, and is equipped with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 800 2.3GHz Quad processor for the LTE version and Exynos 5 Octa (1.9 GHz QuadCore + 1.3 GHz Quadcore) for the regular 3G/WiFi version, and 3GB of memory.

Curiously enough, the Galaxy Tab PRO 12.2 has almost the same features of the Galaxy Note PRO sans the S-Pen – same retina-like display, same processor right down to the Exynos 5 Octa used for the WiFi/3G version. While both devices look outwardly similar, the biggest change is in the UI. The Galaxy Note PRO uses a new UI overlay dubbed Magazine UX, which consists of three different customizable screen panels: one for work, one for your personal needs and one for your social media. Aside from Android 4.4 (KitKat), the UI in the Galaxy Tab PRO hasn’t been mentioned, so we’re going to hazard a guess that you’ll be getting Samsung’s old TouchWiz UI on that. Hopefully the software is enough of a differentiator for the two identically-sized slates.

Both devices will be running Android 4.4 (Kit Kat) when they launch globally starting Q1 (soon in Q1 we hope), though no pricing has yet been established.
