Microsoft Tries Android Again, Unveils Nokia X2

The crew from Redmond are back with a new Android powered phone

While Nokia’s original Android powered smartphone, the X had its issues, it was a step in the right direction for the company. Now, Microsoft (who bought Nokia’s smartphone arm) has unveiled the device’s successor: the Nokia X2. The Nokia X2 fixes some of the issues we had with the hardware on the original X (mainly the measly 512MB of RAM).

Since this is the same crew that worked on the X, it’s obvious that Microsoft would use the same colorful, plastic outer shell that was on the X. It’s not completely the same though, as the Nokia X2 sports a translucent outer layer, which gives it a unique effect when it’s out and about in the sunlight.

The Nokia X2 still runs the forked version of Android that doesn’t have access to Google’s services, though the device now has a home key in addition to the back key. The UI is still pretty Windows-y (obviously), though it seems that it’s now easier to navigate, at least according to the hands-on video of Nokia.

The Nokia X2 will be priced at 99 Euros (Php 5903) before taxes and duties. No word yet when it’ll come out though.
