Back to basics – a traditional, non-hybrid laptop
Leaked last night and announced officially today, the Microsoft Surface Laptop is the tech titan’s (newest) answer to Apple’s venerable MacBook line-up.
This slick laptop, unsurprisingly themed in Microsoft’s “Surface” design aesthetic, is also the company’s flagship device for Windows 10 S, a new operating system similar to Google’s Chrome OS which is optimized mainly for web apps and in-OS apps.

- 13.5-inch PixelSense touch screen display
- Up to 1TB SSD internal storage
- Up to 14.5 hours of battery life
- Windows 10 S
According to Panos Panay, Microsoft’s Surface head, the Core i5 Surface laptop is “50% faster than the Core i7 MacBook Air, while also being lighter.” Benchmarking enthusiasts will have to validate that claim first, though even if it’s a half-truth, Microsoft’s Surface Laptop is off to an interesting start.
The Core i5 version of the Surface Laptop will be available on June 15, at $999 (~Php 50K). No word yet on when the i7 model will be released.
