MyPhone Cuts Price Of 3D-capable SuperD D1 One Month After Launch

Look guys, 3D is officially dead. TV manufacturers no longer want anything to do with it, and even in cinemas, 3D movies are starting to falter. It has never been anything else than a passing fad, one that’s thankfully on its way out. And while we recognize what MyPhone and SuperD was trying to do with their collaborative D1 smartphone, consumers simply aren’t going to start handing over money just to enjoy the promise of 3D without actually getting worthwhile content for it.

And while MyPhone will probably just say that the price reduction for the SuperD D1 is convince people to buy into the tech, it’s pretty significant price drop for a phone launched just a month ago – Php 8,499 from Php 12,000, albeit in online shopping site Lazada. Until there’s more compelling content for 3D aside from the software trickery that sorta makes regular content into 3D (but not really) or demo games, the tech on phones ultimately will just turn out to be a novelty rather than a compelling feature.

In any case, you can see what we thought of the phone in our initial review here.
