Smartphones have become boring lately because the majority of them opt for the glass sandwich design (which is sometimes swapped for vegan leather in some cases). OnePlus thinks phones can be cool again with the aluminum unibody design of the Nord 4, making it one of the first phones in years to go for mostly metal for the body.Â
We emphasize mostly metal since there’s a portion of the Nord 4 that uses glass–which reminds us of Google’s design language on the original Pixel. To an extent, the Nord 4 might be a modern-day Pixel with its long software update commitment: 4 major Android updates and 6 years of security updates, proving that even mid-range phones can last long.
As a mid-range phone, you’re getting solid internals with the Nord 4: Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, up to 16GB RAM, and up to 512GB UFS 4.0 storage (the 128GB version uses UFS 3.1). Its display is a 6.74-inch 120hz flat AMOLED panel with a 1.5k resolution and a punch-hole for a 16-megapixel camera.
As for cameras, the dual rear camera setup of the Nord 4 consists of a 50-megapixel main shooter with OIS and EIS and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera. While it is a mid-range phone, the main camera can shoot 4K video at 60FPS.
Even with that slim, sexy metal body, OnePlus managed to cram in a 5500mAh battery inside that supports 100w charging. However, the charger may not be included depending on the region. And just like recent trends, AI is incorporated into the Nord 4 with features like AI Audio Summary, AI Note Summary, AI Groufie, and AI Linkboost.
Here’s the pricing of the OnePlus Nord 4:
- 8GB/128GB – Rs 29,999(~Php 21k)
- 8GB/256GB – Rs 32,999(~Php 24k)
- 12GB/256GB – 499 Euros(~Php 32k)
- 16GB/512GB – 599 Euros(~Php 39k)
The Nord 4 will be made available initially in Europe and India, and there’s no word yet when OnePlus will make it available to more countries.
