Review Verdict: We’ve been consistently impressed by durability, camera performance, and overall capabilities of the OPPO Reno13 Pro. The only remaining question is the price—if it’s competitively priced in the Philippines, it could seriously shake up the affordable flagship segment.
Pros
- Very useful telephoto camera
- Large battery that’s power efficient
- Flagship-like overall performance
Cons
- It could’ve had higher peak brightness
- Price a crucial factor
OPPO’s Reno series has traditionally targeted the midrange market. However, the Reno13 Pro seems to be aiming higher. With its impressive features, design, and performance, it’s poised to compete with affordable flagships.
OPPO Reno13 Pro Review Philippines: Design
While the Reno series is often perceived as entry-level, the Reno 13 Pro quickly dispels that notion. Our review unit came in a sleek matte black finish with an aluminum chassis, though a more eye-catching Mist Lavender version is also available. The camera module design is familiar, avoiding the oversized bumps found on many recent smartphones.
The phone boasts an impressive IP69 rating, making it dustproof and waterproof. It also features built-in shock resistance, aligning with the trend of rugged smartphones. The build quality is undeniably premium, with a slim profile and comfortable ergonomics–things you’d expect to see more on a flagship device and not on a midrange one.
OPPO Reno13 Pro Review Philippines: Display
The Reno13 Pro sports a 6.83-inch micro-quad-curved AMOLED display, giving it a nearly flat appearance. It offers a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. While the display is impressive, its peak brightness of 1200 nits is slightly lower than some competitors.
Save for the low peak brightness, the Reno13 Pro’s display has all the qualities you’d expect on a flagship-caliber panel. Complementing that are stereo speakers that sound good for a midrange device.
OPPO Reno13 Pro Review Philippines: Camera
The Reno13 Pro joins the recent trend of phones ditching filler cameras for a more useful telephoto shooter. It features a 50-megapixel f/1.8 main camera with OIS, a 50-megapixel f/2.8 telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom with OIS, and an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera with autofocus.
Image quality from the main camera is excellent, with good contrast and dynamic range. Colors are slightly warm in some shots but generally accurate. Low-light performance is particularly impressive.
The telephoto camera also delivers excellent results, with accurate colors and exposure. We can’t emphasize enough how we appreciate OPPO ditching useless filler cameras for something people will use more often.
OPPO’s AI features are present, allowing you to unblur photos, remove reflections, and even eliminate unwanted objects from images.
OPPO Reno13 Pro Review Philippines: Internals and Battery
Powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8350 processor, and the one coming to the Philippines is paired 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. We were surprised with the benchmark numbers the Dimensity 8350 offers, giving the Reno13 Pro flagship-level performance.
Compared to current midrange chips from Qualcomm, the Dimensity 8350 is certainly on top, proving that it is more than just a mere “upgrade” from the Dimensity 8300 it is based on. The Reno13 Pro’s stellar performance is complemented by ColorOS 15, which has a smooth experience based on our usage. You do get a bunch of pre-installed apps, but fortunately they are easy to uninstall.
Another stellar feature of the Reno13 Pro is its large 5800mAh battery that supports 80w charging. That extra 800mAh you get compared to the Reno12 series gives the Reno13 Pro longer battery life–with our YouTube video loop test, we got a screen on time of 13 hours.
OPPO Reno13 Pro Review Philippines: Wrap-up and Conclusions
Without any question, the Reno13 Pro is a significant step up for the Reno series. It offers a premium design, excellent camera performance that ditches any filler shooters, and flagship-level performance. If OPPO can price it competitively, the Reno 13 Pro has the potential to be a serious contender in the affordable flagship segment.
What we know so far is that OPPO is giving a nice pre-order promo for the Reno13 Pro: aside from a pair of Enco Air4 TWS earbuds for those ordering via Shopee (Enco Buds2 Pro for those ordering via Lazada), you also get 1 year liquid and screen protection and up to Php 2,500 in vouchers.
