Check out OPPO’s new phones

OPPO has finally announced the newest members of their R family of smartphones in China. The two new devices, the R9 and R9 Plus, have taken major design inspiration from Apple judging from product photos from the Chinese company’s website. And by major design inspiration, we mean that they look almost identical to the offering of the firm from Cupertino.

The two new phones come in 5.5-inch and 6.0-inch variants, and use the same design language as Apple’s current flagships – namely a liberal use of metal and glass as well as curved corners and sides.

Both phones have 4GB of RAM though they’re quite different when it comes to the processor – the OPPO R9 has a Helio P10 SoC, while the R9 Plus has a Snapdragon 652 SoC inside. The phones use 16-megapixel shooters for the front cameras though the rear cameras are quite different for the two devices – the R9 has a 13-megapixel rear shooter, while the R9 Plus has a 16-megapixel snapper.

As usual, the two phones come with OPPO’s VOOC fast charging tech, as well as fingerprint scanners mounted on the physical home button on the chin of the phones. Both phones have thin side bezels which increase the screen-to-body ratio significantly.

The OPPO R9 is priced at RMB 2,799 (Php 19.9K) in China, while the R9 Plus is priced at RMB 3,299 (Php 23.4K).
