Qualcomm’s Latest Chipsets Are Able To Handle 192-Megapixel Resolution Photos

Whoa

One of the most important parts of a smartphone when capturing high-resolution images is the chipset since a large bulk of the image processing necessary to produce a photo goes through the Image Signal Processor (ISP) of the processor.

It seems that Qualcomm’s latest crop of processors will be able to handle smartphones that can capture photos up to 192-megapixels, way, way more than what’s currently possible today. The list of supported chipsets are below:

Obviously, no technology exists right now that can capture that high of a resolution in a smartphone, as most camera sensors for smartphones today top out at around 48-megapixels.

At the very least it’s good to know that Qualcomm has managed to remove that particular limitation moving forward, as you can expect future chipsets to have the same ability to capture crazy-high resolution photos as the ones above.
