Razer Blade: The Ultimate Portable Gaming Laptop
When I switched to the Mac I thought I would never see a PC anymore that would make me want to leave Apple. I was wrong. The gamer in me is just too powerful to ignore. I just saw the details of the Razer Blade and I’m already itching to sell my 2011 MacBook Pro to be able to get one of these when it hits stores in Q4 later this year.
Razer is known for making gamer accessories and they have a solid cult following especially amongst hardcore gamers. I have several Razer products myself like the StarCraft II Razer Gaming Mouse and the BlackWidow Mechanical Keyboard. What makes these products so appealing to gamers is a mix of features, branding, and marketing. Razer knows the gamer market. They know what gamers want and they make it a point to always deliver and even exceed the expectations of gamers. Now they’re going beyond accessories with the Razor Blade.
What’s so special with the Razer Blade?
Several things stand out. First the design of the product. It has a 17″ monitor but The Razer Blade doesn’t look like your gigantic laptop which is usually the case for gaming rigs. It actually resembles the Apple MacBook Pro but it comes in sleek black. The Razer Blade is less than an inch thick! It also weighs less than 7 pounds.
How about what’s inside? It packs a dual core Intel i7 processor (2.8GHz) which you can even boost up to 3.5Ghz. It has 8GB 1333MHz DDR3 memory, Intel HD Graphics 3000 and NVidia GT-555M (2GB), and a 320GB 7200rpm SATA HDD. To quote Steve Jobs, this is a “screamer”.
All of that is just standard that almost any other PC manufacturer can offer. That’s why Razer made this laptop a little more special with some pretty innovative features. Unlike other laptops the Razer Blade has an LCD trackpad which can load custom graphics and even play Youtube videos (WHUT). It also has 10 additional LCD keys that you can program for gaming macros.
You’re probably thinking “what’s wrong with this machine”? Well something does have to give and for the Razer Blade it’s the price. The SRP is a whopping $2799 USD or roughly Php120,000. Suddenly the MacBook Pro looks affordable! Hahaha! It’s scheduled to hit stores later this year in the US (Q4) so hopefully we can get it here in December or maybe early 2012.
