Doesn’t work with Smart’s LTE Network
The highly anticipated budget-friendly Xiaomi Redmi 2 is scheduled for release this coming April 28. There’s definitely a lot of buzz about this device because it pretty much gives you everything you need in a smartphone for just Php5,999. This includes a fantastic fully laminated display, an above average camera, reasonably powerful internals, and LTE connectivity (PLUS DUAL SIM!).
However, it’s not for everyone. To be specific, it’s not for primary Smart subscribers because the RedMi 2 only supports the 1800 LTE band which is the one used by Globe. They don’t support the band used by Smart. We confirmed this ourselves with the review unit that we have. No matter what we do or try we’re just stuck at 2G, 3G, and HSPA+. Never LTE. Sad.
