Samsung Outing Shatter-resistant Galaxy S8 Active On August 11

It’ll be an AT&T exclusive to start

With every new Galaxy S smartphone launched, Samsung usually releases a more rugged version a few months after, and the Galaxy S8 and S8+ is no exception. Samsung’s tipped to launch their new Galaxy S8 Active come August 11, and it comes packing most of the things that made the Galaxy S8 and S8+ great, sans the edge-to-edge display.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Active specs

The Galaxy S8 Active is meant for people who don’t baby their phones, and the design shows it. It’s a rugged phone all around, built with a tough metal frame and a shatter-resistant display, though it’s obviously no longer that beautiful curved Infinity Display found on the earlier flagships.

While the Galaxy S8 and S8+ were water resistant, the Galaxy S8 active takes it up a notch by being water resistant and having the ability to resist drops of up to 5 feet on a flat surface. Samsung says the phone was made with military-grade materials, which should make it tougher than your average mobile phone.

Inside are all the guts that made Samsung’s current flagships great – Snapdragon 835, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, 12-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel front-facing camera as well as a larger 4,000mAh battery and the company’s AI assistant, Bixby.

The Galaxy S8 Active will be available for purchase via AT&T for now, priced at $28.34 for 30 months. That comes out to around $850 or right around 42.8K.
