A smart belt that keeps an eye on your eating habits

CES is just a few days away, and Samsung is already starting to spill details of the devices it’ll be announcing in Las Vegas this year. First up is the WELT smartbelt, a connected belt that helps you stay healthy and active by analyzing your waistline.

That’s right – aside from keeping your pants up, the WELT also keeps track of your waist size, eating habits and the number of steps you take every day. The information taken from WELT is then fed into a special app that then analyzes all of that information and comes up with a personal health care and weight management plans to keep you fit and healthy.

The WELT is a product of Samsung’s Creative Lab, which encourages out-of-the-box thinking from the otherwise strict, monolithic structure of the multi-billion dollar company.

Samsung is also showing off two other C-Lab projects in CES this month – rink, an advanced hand-motion controller for mobile VR devices and TipTalk, a watch strap that can be added to both Smartwatches and traditional time pieces that allow them to sync to phones and transmit audio when users touch their ear.
