Samsung Unveils SMART Cameras With NFC, WiFi

Samsung makes it easier to share photos, videos with Tag and Go

We’ve seen Samsung integrate NFC into their higher end NX30 mirrorless camera, and it seems that the Korean juggernaut wants to put NFC into their point and shoots as well. They’ve gone ahead and announced the SMART Camera WB350F, WB35F and the WB50F point and shoots, all with NFC and WiFi connectivity.

All three have NFC and WiFi connectivity, 16-megapixel image sensors as well as Samsung’s Tag and Go feature, which allows users to share photos and videos with a simple tap of their NFC equipped device. The WB35F looks to be aimed at the low-end of the spectrum, lacking the touchscreen and skinnier body of its much bigger sibling, the WB350F.

The WB350F meanwhile, is being touted by Samsung as having a sensor so sensitive that it doesn’t need a flash. They say that the 16-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor in the camera eliminates the need for the use of a flash, and that the sensor needs less light than its conventional counterparts.

Finally, we have the WB50F. This particular point and shoot does have a flash, though the one it utilizes is a soft flash, optimized to create images with softer, more natural lighting.

Of the three, we’re more partial to the WB350F, though only time will tell if the sensor inside it will really deliver on its promise of superior low light performance. Samsung has not specified when exactly these cameras are coming to the Philippines, or how much they will all retail for.
