Sony’s Xperia XZ Premium With Snapdragon 835, 4K Display Official

Sony’s been toying with the idea of stuffing 4K displays on its smartphones since 2015, but it’s only now that the company managed to fit a true 4K display on a mobile device via their newly launched XZ Premium. And while the new phone looks pretty much the same as the phones it releases every year, the XZ Premium wants to wow consumers by the sheer ridiculousness of its spec sheet.

That spec sheet includes a Snapdragon 835 processor, 5.5-inch 4K, 3840 x 1260 display (which works out to a ridiculous 801ppi), 4GB of RAM, IP68 water resistance a camera that can record videos at 1000FPS.

And while the Z5 Premium was the first phone to feature a 4K display, that 4K resolution wasn’t always on per se, and was only turned on when viewing 4K content. The XZ Premium’s display in contrast displays content natively in 4K, which probably won’t do its 3,230mAh battery any favors.

Despite that, the phone has a solid featureset, and its 19-megapixel Exmore RS Motion Eye camera with hybrid AF can capture HD video at 960 frames per second – a first for any phone.
