Selling for more than double the phone’s SRP
A few days ago, photos of a special edition Cherry Mobile smartphone has been circulating over social media. The phone in question is a Pres. Rodrigo Duterte edition Flare J2s. Aside from its special packaging, the phone is essentially a Flare J2s. Here’s a quick rundown of its specs:

- 1GB RAM
- 8GB internal storage
- 5-inch HD IPS display
- 8-megapixel rear camera with AF and LED flash
- 5-megapixel front camera
- Android Marshmallow
- 22oomAh battery
While the special edition Flare J2s was given as a gift from Duterte’s office, avid Duterte fans can get one online for a price: While the Flare J2s retails for Php 2,399 in Lazada (it is currently sold out as of this writing), the Duterte edition J2s is currently sold for Php 5,000.
It’s double the price for a phone with so-so specs, so unless you are into collecting Duterte memorabilia, you are better off getting the Flare S6, which has better specs, for a hair under Php 4,000. Alternatively, you can get the Flare S5 Plus for the same price of the Duterte Edition J2s as part of Cherry Mobile’s Year-end sale.
