Starmobile Engage 7HD: Possibly the Best Local Affordable Android Tablet?

The Starmobile Engage 7HD!

The Sezziest Local Tablet: Starmobile Engage 7HD

Starmobile gave an exclusive preview to their two new Android devices, the Starmobile Engage 7HD and the Starmobile Crystal, during the latest Unbox Video Podcast Episode. Their tablet offering, the Engage 7HD, caught my attention because of the premium brushed-metal finish and the competitive specs (1.2GHz dual-core processor and 1GB RAM). What even made me strongly consider getting one was when Katrina Tioseco, Starmobile Marketing Head, shared that the SRP will be below Php10,000. That’s crazy value for money! This tablet looks amazing, has good specs, and they’ll sell it for almost half the price that international brands are charging? Boom!

The specs aren’t 100% confirmed yet (it can still change leading up to the launch) but here’s what we’ve gathered so far:

Starmobile Engage 7HD Spec Sheet

Sezzy, sezzy, sezzy Tablet!

Here are a few pictures that we took of the Engage 7HD. Don’t forget to read the captions!

Screen is absolutely stunning. Starmobile did an awesome job with the 7-inch IPS display. Notice that the speakers are at the front. Optimal for watching videos.
The brushed-metal finish applied to the back is awesome! Definitely makes it look much more expensive, lol. Also the Starmobile logo lights up when the tablet is in use (similar to how the Apple logo glows at the back of a MacBook).
Yes, that’s an 8-megapixel camera. Not bad.

Definitely has a lot of potential… but we need to review it

As far as first impressions go, the Starmobile Engage 7HD completely blew us away. However we can’t fully recommend it yet since we definitely need to put this through the paces first. We’ll try to secure a review unit as fast as possible so we can have a review out just in time for the holidays. The final price will also be critical especially with the onslaught of the Php4,000 Android tablets (but those are definitely substandard in performance).
