Roughly less than a month after the iPhone 12 series was announced in the US, Apple’s official online store in the Philippines revealed the official prices of all iPhone 12 variants—and it is lower than the official prices of the iPhone 11 when it became official in the country last year. Here are the official prices:
To give you perspective, the 64GB iPhone 11 Pro last year was priced at Php 67,990. For this year, the iPhone 12 Pro with double the storage capacity will cost you Php 62,990—making it Php 5k more affordable while getting more storage to boot. It gets more interesting when you get the top-tier 512GB model: compared to last year, the iPhone 12 Pro is Php 9k more affordable than the iPhone 11 Pro for the same storage capacity.
If you get the mid-tier 256GB model, the price difference between the iPhone 11 Pro last year with the iPhone 12 Pro this year is Php 8k. It is also worth noting that the price difference also applies to the bigger iPhone 12 Pro Max.
However, things are different with the iPhone 12. Compared to the pricing of the iPhone 11 last year, the 64GB iPhone 12 is Php 2k more expensive than the iPhone 11 with the same storage capacity last year. The same price difference applies for the 128GB and 256GB variants.
To sum it up, you are better off to get the iPhone 12 Pro models if you want actual savings compared to the iPhone 11 Pro models last year. After all, it does make sense that Apple decided to ditch the charger and earphones to offset costs.
