The Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus: Helio X30, Dual SAMOLED, Dual Sony Cameras

Meizu’s flagship series is doubling down on the important things.

Not to be outshined by Xiaomi’s recent release of the Mi 5X, Meizu has officially unwrapped their Meizu Pro 7 and Meizu Pro 7 Plus flagships. These premium handsets are the first phones to be powered by MediaTek’s top-of-the-line Helio X30, a 10nm fabbed deca-core chipset. A cheaper Meizu Pro 7 variant will also be shipping with the previous-gen Helio X25 as its SoC.

As for the handsets’ other shared specs, the Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus feature two Samsung-branded AMOLED displays – a front display and a 2-inch back panel. Both smartphones are geared with twin 12-megapixel Sony IMX386 rear cameras. RAM, storage, and battery capacities differ between the two phones, with the Pro 7 Plus positioned to be the more expensive, more powerful device of the duo.

The Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus’ 2-inch rear display can be used for notifications, a music player, and as a means to take selfies with the rear cameras.

Both handsets will be available in China on August 5. Meizu has not yet disclosed information on whether these phones will be leaving the mainland anytime soon.
