The Sony ZV-E1 is a Tiny Full-Frame Vlogging Camera with AI

Sony adds a new model under its ZV series of vlogging cameras with the ZV-E1. The new model has the compact body design of the ZV series while housing a full-frame sensor inside. That makes the Sony ZV-E1 one of the smallest full-frame mirrorless cameras out there–it’s even more compact than the A7c.

This very compact vlogging camera has the same 12-megapixel Exmor R sensor used on the A7s III while using the latest BIONZ XR image processing engine for fast and accurate AF speeds and a dedicated AI unit to further strengthen the ZV-E1 as a video-centric camera.

Despite its compact body, the ZV-E1’s sensor boasts 15+ stops of dynamic range, along with a standard ISO range of 80 to 102400–with the latter being expandable up to 409600 in both stills and video. It’s also capable of shooting 4K 60FPS with 4:2:2 and 10-bit, and Sony adds that the ZV-E1 will be able to shoot 4K 120FPS with a future software update. For cinematic-like footage, the ZV-E1 has Sony’s S-Cinetone that allows having natural mid-tones without the need for post-processing.

Aside from having Real-time AF for detecting subjects like humans, animals, birds, insects, cars/trains, and airplanes, the ZV-E1’s built-in AI allows for features like Multiple Face Recognition, auto framing, Framing Stabilizer, and Auto Microphone directivity. In a nutshell, the ZV-E1 aims to help content creators have an easier time shooting without the complications that are needed in setting up their cameras.

The ZV-E1 is priced at $2,200(~Php 120k) for the body only and $2500(~Php 136.5k) with the 28-60 mm F4.5-5.6 zoom lens.
