It looks like Chinese brand Vivo is looking to challenge fellow brand OPPO in the selfie business – the company has just released two smartphones that have dual-camera selfie shooters.

Vivo X9

Vivo X9 Plus

The new phones, dubbed the X9 and X9 Plus, sport high-resolution selfie cameras – specifically, Sony’s 20-megapixel, IMR376 sensor with a 1.28-inch sensor along with a f/2.0 aperture. The Vivo X9 Plus takes it up a notch by including a secondary, 8-megapixel front-facing camera into the mix.

What does that secondary camera do? Well, it takes depth information for a more pronounced bokeh effect in pictures. This isn’t new – the Lenovo Vibe S1 had a similar setup, which you can see in action in our hands-on below:

Aside from the selfie cameras, the Vivo X9 and X9 Plus sport premium metal bodies. The Vivo X9 sports a Snapdragon 625 processor with 4GB of RAM and a choice of 64GB/128GB of storage, has a fingerprint scanner and a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture. The Vivo X9 Plus on the other hand, sport a Snapdragon 653 processor with 6GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, 16-megapixel rear camera and a fingerprint sensor. Both phones have AKM4367 DAC for superior audio.

The Vivo X9 is priced at RMB 2798 for the 64GB version while the 128GB version is set to retail for RMB 2998. No pricing has been set for the Vivo X9 Plus as of yet.
