What’s the Vivo V7 Plus Up Against When it Launches in the Philippines?

Teaser for the Vivo V7 Plus

Vivo’s Newest Offering

A few days ago we wrote that Vivo will be launching their newest smartphone, the Vivo V7 Plus, on September 7 in India. There’s been significant buzz about this phone on social media primarily because it’s being billed as having the same “infinity display” (edge-to-edge screen) of the Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S8. Another similarity is that it won’t have a physical home button and the fingerprint scanner will most likely be mounted at the back of the device.

Here’s a quick refresher of the partial and unconfirmed spec sheet:

Vivo V7 Partial and Unofficial Spec Sheet

While there are no details yet on the camera specs, we’re pretty sure that the Vivo V7 Plus will continue the dual front-facing camera set-up that Vivo has become known for. In a nutshell, the Vivo V7 Plus is going to be a selfie-focused nice looking phone with an edge-to-edge display. It’s on Android 7.0 Nougat and there are no guarantees that this will get Android 8.0 Oreo (unless they announce it during the launch event).

Is it worth buying given the potential price tag? If this gets priced above Php21,000, it’s going to be a difficult to justify. You can just save money for a few more weeks or months and buy a brand new LG G6 at Php29,900. There’s also the OnePlus 5, the revered “flagship killer”, which sells for around Php25,000.

The Vivo V7 Plus will be up against stiff competition but hopefully they still have an ace up their sleeve when they officially announce the device in September. Stay glued to this space for more information as it comes.
