Here’s your First Look at the Black Shark 4

Xiaomi is getting ready for the Black Shark 4 on March 23. Ahead of its launch, a hands-on video gave us a closer look at the upcoming gaming phone.

While the video mostly contained gameplay for Game for Peace (PUBG in China), we get a glimpse of the Black Shark 4’s design. For the first time in the series, you are getting a centrally-placed punch hole for the display that is similar to a number of recently-released Xiaomi phones like the Redmi Note 10.

Looking at the bezels, the Black Shark 4 appears to sport thicker bezels compared to its predecessors. The display is said to be a 6.67-inch Full HD+ panel with a 120hz refresh rate. No word yet if it is an AMOLED or IPS panel, but we’re presuming that it is the former.

Like its predecessors, you get mechanical shoulder trigger buttons on the right side of the phone. This time around, you get a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, an unusual decision since the Black Shark 3 series did come with an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Going to the back, the triple rear camera setup is arranged in a horizontal arrangement—similar to the design on the ROG Phone 5. There are no details yet about the setup, but it should be more or less similar to what we saw in the Black Shark 3: 64-megapixel main camera, 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and 5-megapixel depth sensor.

As for the cooling fan, you get an LED display that shows temperature information. For the rest of the specs, the Black Shark 4 is expected to rock a Snapdragon 888 processor for the Pro model (Snapdragon 870 for the vanilla version), an improved cooling system, and a 4500mAh battery with 120w wired charging that lets you juice up the phone from 0 to 100% in 15 minutes.

There should be more teasers about the Black Shark 4 leading to its official unveiling on March 23, so expect a couple of surprises here and there.
