Aside from the Mi 5s, Xiaomi also announced a much bigger flagship today – the Mi 5s Plus. The new phone roughly has the same specs of its smaller brother, but the Chinese company has thrown a couple of cool features into it to differentiate it. Namely, a twin camera setup that follows the offering of their bitter domestic rival, Huawei.

Just like the Huawei P9, the Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus sports a dual camera setup, with one shooting color and another shooting monochrome. Xiaomi promises that the IMX258 equipped cameras, capable of shooting 13-megapixel photos, are able to capture more detailed and cleaner images than comparable single camera setups. You can also use each camera independently, just in case you’re planning a black and white shoot.
The insides are pretty much the same as the Mi 5s – the Mi 5s Plus loses the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, favoring a more conventional one placed at the rear of the phone but gains a bigger 5.7-inch full HD display (that doesn’t have force touch), 3,800mAh battery and a faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chip, clocked at 2.35GHz. One big advantage of the Mi 5s Plus is that the highest variant gets 6GB of RAM, instead of the regular 4GB that the Mi 5s comes with.
The Mi 5s Plus will retail for RMB 2,299 (Php 16.6K) for the 4GB/64GB version, while you’ll have to fork out RMB 2,599 (Php 18.7K) for the 6GB/128GB version.
