Xiaomi’s going beastmode with their new Redmi Note 2

One of the reasons for Xiaomi’s rise in popularity in both China and other countries is the high-end, bottom-price approach to phones in the past. That strategy hasn’t panned out this year unfortunately mainly due to its competitors efforts that matched the Chinese giant’s offerings both in specs and price. Xiaomi’s looking to change that with their newest phone, the Redmi Note 2, which packs insanely high specs in a very competitive price.

The Redmi Note 2 comes in two versions, the regular Note 2 and the Note 2 Prime, with the differences being the onboard storage (16GB vs. 32GB, respectively) and CPU clock speed (2.0GHz vs. 2.2GHz). Inside the Redmi Note 2 is MediaTek’s brand new 64-bit, MT6795 octa-core Helio X10 processor, along with 2GB of RAM. A 13-megapixel rear camera with phase AF graces the back, while a 5-megapixel camera pulls selfie duty on the front.

Xiaomi is pricing the base, 16GB, TDD-LTE + TD-SCDMA version of the Redmi Note 2 for RMB 799 (Php 5.8K) and the 16GB, TDD-LTE & FDD-LTE for RMB 899 (php 6.5K). The Redmi Note 2 Prime goes for RMB 999 (Php 7.2K)
