Grab Alternative Angcars is Now Live

Months after Angkas said that they will be having their own TNVS service, their Angcars car-hailing service is now live on their app–albeit in beta mode and limited to mostly Metro Manila.

Angcars appears in the Angkas app as a third option from the original Passenger and Padala services. We tried to book a trip, and the app informed us that Angcars is on a soft launch, servicing select areas in Metro Manila that include Quezon City, San Juan, Mandaluyong, Makati, Pasig, and BGC.

The service only offers a car that can accommodate up to four passengers, and Angkas has four basic rules: the first three are a given, while their fourth rule heavily emphasizes that smoking and vaping is not allowed inside the car.

As for how Angcars computes for the fare, the base charge is Php 45, while the per km charge is Php 15. There’s also a per minute charge–which usually fluctuates depending on traffic–of Php 2. We compared Angcars’ rates over the regular rates of Grab, and the price difference is around Php 10 more affordable.

Angkas has yet to formally promote this new service on its social media channels like Facebook, so expect limited availability for Angcars for the meantime.
