ASUS Debuts First Foldable Laptop with ZenBook 17 Fold OLED

With foldable devices slowly becoming the future, ASUS is the second computer brand to have a foldable device with the ZenBook 17 OLED. Unlike Lenovo’s implementation with the ThinkPad X1 Fold, the ZenBook 17 OLED is significantly bigger with its 17.3-inch flexible OLED touchscreen display that takes up a form factor of a typical 12.5-inch laptop when folded.

The 17.3-inch OLED display has a 4:3 aspect ratio and a 2.5k resolution. The middle fold results in two 12.5-inch Full HD displays with a 3:2 aspect ratio. Key to its design is a precision-engineered 180-degree hinge that allows the ZenBook 17 Fold OLED to be utilized in various usage modes.

As a top-notch display, the ZenBook 17 Fold OLED covers 100% of the DCI-P3 Gamut and is Pantone Validated, on top of support for Dolby Vision HDR.

Like Lenovo’s implementation, the ZenBook 17 can be used with either a virtual keyboard or ASUS’ ErgoSense Bluetooth keyboard and touchpad. The keyboard offers a 1.4mm key travel for its dished key caps, making it comfortable to use for long typing sessions.

The ZenBook 17 Fold OLED has a 5-megapixel webcam with an IR camera for secure logins with Windows Hello and a color sensor, Harman Kardon-tuned quad speakers, and ASUS’ 3D Noise Reduction (3DNR) technology for clearer video calls.

The ZenBook 17 Fold OLED offers top-tier performance with 12th-gen Core i7 U-series processors, Iris Xe integrated graphics, up to 16GB RAM, and up to 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. You also get two USB-C ports that support Thunderbolt 4, along with a 75wHr battery.

The ASUS ZenBook 17 Fold OLED will be available for purchase by mid-2022.
