CAVITEX Lanes to be Closed to Make Way for LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project

Several lanes in the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) will be closed temporarily to make way for the LRT-1 Cavite extension project. The Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) has announced that the temporary closure will start on August 6 and will last until August 10. 

Starting Friday, motorists using CAVITEX should expect heavy traffic near the Parañaque bridge. Both southbound and northbound lanes near the said bridge will be closed for the assembly of steel girders. Lane closures, counterflow, and stop-and-go schemes will be imposed in the affected area. 

The following traffic arrangements will be implemented on the expressway beginning Friday:

August 6 (10 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.) 

August 7 (10 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.) 

*There will be two different closure times implemented on August 8. 

August 8 (12 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.) 

August 8 (10 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.) 

*There will be three dif erent closure times to be implemented on August 9.

August 9 (12 a.m to 3:59 a.m.) 

August 9 (4 a.m. to 6 a.m.) 

August 9 (10 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.) 

August 10 (12 a.m. to 4 a.m.) 

CAVITEX Lanes Closed LRT-1

Again, motorists are advised to allocate extra time for their commute on the said dates. The closed CAVITEX lanes will open immediately once the construction for the LRT-1 is completed.

The LRT-1 Cavite extension project will extend the current LRT Line 1 from its existing Baclaran Station to the upcoming Niog Station in Bacoor. The 11.7 km extension project will pass through the cities of Parañaque, Las Piñas, and Bacoor. It will have eight stations and is expected to accommodate up to 410,000 passengers daily.
