GCash Completes Upgrades, Ensures Everyone’s Money is Safe

If you are one of the many people who had a hard time accessing their GCash account yesterday (September 4), the fintech platform explained that they acknowledged the problem. GCash assured everyone that their money is safe with them while they undergo upgrades to the app. While GCash is not specific as to what upgrades were done, we tried accessing our account this morning (September 5), and the app is working fine.

In a statement sent to Gizguide, one of the problems GCash has spotted involved delays in posting transactions , which led them to temporarily suspend services like Express Send; Bank Transfers via Instapay; Access to Real-time Transaction History; QRPH; Card Transactions; and Online Web Pay for a few hours while the fixes are made.

To credit GCash’s effort to make their app more robust and secure, they have recently implemented a new feature where all notifications on receiving money is now on the app instead of being sent via SMS. This is among the few ways GCash has improved their security–especially with the rise of scam texts that sometimes may pose as a dubious GCash message.

In addition to the updated method of receiving notifications, GCash has fully rolled out DoubleSafe, which makes use of facial recognition to assure that the person accessing the account is the same as the one registered.
