iPads and iPhones have become so powerful, that it is natural that users would attempt to run old PC games via emulators on these devices. And while Apple initially did not like to approve the use of emulators on the iPad and iPhone, it recently allowed UTM SE on its App Store.

Considering iOS is a walled garden, this is a welcome change from Apple, as this means more freedom in using your iOS device for gaming.
You can download UTM SE for free on your iPhone, iPad, or even your Apple Vision, but do note that you will need to build or download a virtual machine–which you can choose from various pre-built ones on UTM’s website.

Aside from Windows and Linux, you can even download older Mac versions like MacOS 9 if you like the experience of using legacy Mac software on a modern Apple device.
Now that PC emulators are allowed on the iPhone and iPad, the possibilities are endless: at the very least you can play the classic Doom on the iPhone, or maybe some classic Windows games like Space Cadet to the joy of Millennials.
UTM SE did not indicate any limitations of using its PC emulator, so it might be possible to run games like Cyberpunk 2077 on an iOS device, especially if you’re using one with an A17 Pro (iPhone 15 Pro) or any iPad with an M1 or newer chips. We also don’t know how this will affect the sad state of AAA mobile games, where Apple’s push for iPhone-optimized AAA titles isn’t doing well.
