As the saying goes, some things are worth the wait. This is true in the case of the 2022 Isuzu mu-X. After a long wait, it is finally official in the Philippines. Loaded with more horses and tech, the 2022 model is not only the most powerful mu-X but also the most technologically advanced ISUZU ever built. It might just have what it takes to be the best in the segment. Let’s check the specs and price of the 2022 Isuzu mu-X in the Philippines.
Inside, the LS-E variant has all the niceties this model has to offer. The seats, gear selector, and steering wheel are all made of leather. The driver’s seat is also electric and the sun visors have lit vanity mirrors. The infotainment system has 8 speakers, the second row has a 220-volt inverter, and there are USB Type-A charging ports. Meanwhile, the base RZ4E 4×2 LS AT has a conventional-type instrument cluster, 4-way manually adjustable driver and front passenger seats, and there are no steering wheel-mounted controls. However, just like the other variants, it does have front and rear AC with pollen filters, power side-view mirrors, power windows, and remote keyless entry with alarm and immobilizer. As for the middle variant— RZ4E 4×2 LS-A, it’s better than the base model with the addition of tilt/telescopic steering column, steering wheel-mounted controls for the multi-info display and infotainment system, a 6-way manually adjustable driver’s seat, and second-row USB charging ports.
Performance-wise, the 2022 MU-X also shares the same engines with the D-Max. There’s a 1.9-liter RZ4E turbodiesel that generates 148 hp and 350 Nm of torque, as well as a 3.0-liter 4JJ3-TCX turbo-diesel producing 187 hp and 450 Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, although the RZ4E can be paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. As for the suspension setup, it’s a double-wishbone coil spring with a high-mounted upper control arm and stabilizer up front, while a five-link coil spring and a stabilizer in the rear end. Brakes are all ventilated discs all around. The suspension and brake setup are the same across all variants.
Safety is top-notch in every variant of the new mu-X. They all have electronic parking brake (EPB) with auto hold, anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, electronic stability control, traction control system, hill start assist, and hill descent control. More importantly, the new model scored a perfect 5-star rating at the ASEAN NCAP.
If you want even better safety, go with the LS-E variant. Aside from the additional airbags in this variant, it also has an ADAS or Advanced Driver Assist System. This system features a Smart DUO Camera and Rear Radars to provide better protection and prevention from possible dangerous incidents. It calculates the area and notifies the driver through visual and audio alerts to avoid accidents.
