It’s a way to halt imported cases from coming to Japan

The cancellation of visas will affect around 750,000 people, and 11 countries including the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Vietnam, Malaysia, Israel, Qatar, Bahrain, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

This is following the earlier cancellation of visas issued to citizens of 40 other countries including China, South Korea, Iran, Egypt and most European nations.
