It may be Friday (July 19) today, and it seems everyone working might be having an extended weekend, as Microsoft products like Office 365, Windows Store, and Windows 11 are down globally as per Downdetector.
From the reports we’re gathering online, it seems that a big chunk of Windows laptops are experiencing the dreaded Blue Screen of Death (BSoD), where they are rendered unusable for now.
We don’t know the main cause for the issue, but a post mentions that CrowdStrike is the cause for the massive outage on all Microsoft products.
CrowdStrike is a cybersecurity company that issues updates for Windows PCs, and it appears an error on one of their update has rendered the majority of Microsoft apps to be not working for now.
In a separate report, CrowdStrike acknowledges the issue, stating that the issue involves problems with its Falcon n sensor.
“Symptoms include hosts experiencing a bugcheck\blue screen error related to the Falcon Sensor. Our Engineering teams are actively working to resolve this issue and there is no need to open a support ticket.” the company said in a statement.
Microsoft has yet to make a statement about the ongoing outage, but we hope that this gets resolved as soon as possible.
