National Privacy Commission to Monitor Sudden Surge of Dummy Facebook Accounts

The issue has been reported to Facebook HQ

The majority of Facebook users were shocked earlier today due to the sudden surge of new accounts copying various profiles. Several of our friends and colleagues have been affected by this, prompting them to report these dummy accounts.

The National Privacy Commission is aware of this issue and said that they are looking into the sudden surge of dummy Facebook accounts.

In its statement, Privacy Commissioner Raymund Liboro said that they have brought up the matter to Facebook HQ through Facebook Philippines Representative Claire Amador. Facebook is expected to report its findings in the coming days.

While the proliferation of dummy accounts has yet died down as of this writing, the NPC encourages everyone to report dummy accounts to Facebook.
