The brighter, the better: NLEX Corporation has given the SCTEX an LED upgrade. Now, the guiding lights along the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) are powered by powerful LEDS. How big is the difference though? Let’s find out.
The traditional high-pressure sodium (HPS) bulbs are now out and replaced with brighter and more durable light emitting diodes or simply known as LED lights. These newly installed LED lights cover portions of SCTEX, including bridges and interchanges, from Tipo to Tarlac. “The LED lights boost the motorists’ safety, especially those driving at night, and make driving along the expressway better for the environment,” says Metro Pacific Tollways and NLEX Corporation President Rodrigo E. Franco.
In addition to the power saving benefit and better road visibility, the LED lighting upgrade will also help SCTEX Traffic Monitoring Teams to better observe the traffic conditions at nighttime through CCTVs. They can now respond faster to any accident which is very important. These Traffic Control Teams are based at the SCTEX Toll Operations Center Building in Dolores, Mabalacat City, and they monitor the traffic 24/7 in key areas of the expressway. It’s a good thing that NLEX Corporation has given the SCTEX an LED upgrade.
