Despite making the promise that their first flagship outside of Huawei’s shadow, the Magic 3, would be available outside China, Honor’s first independent flagship free from Huawei never left its home country. That’s not going to be the case this time around with the Honor Magic 4 and Magic 4 Pro.

Honor is claiming that both phones are solid alternatives to Samsung’s Galaxy S22 series, and have stuffed both devices with all the tech you’d expect from a manufacturer with their pedigree. Both phones have a 6.81-inch LTPO (Gen 3) display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, but the Magic 4 Pro has a higher-resolution 1,312 x 2,848 (460 ppi) display VS the vanilla model’s 1,224 x 2,664 (430 ppi) screen.
Regardless, both phones have backlit brightness of 1,000 nits, along with HDR10+ capability and 100 percent DCI-P3 color coverage.
Both phones have excellent optics too, sporting dual 50-megapixel sensors for both the main (f/1.8 aperture, PDAF, Laser AF) and ultra-wide (f/2.2 aperture, 122-degree field of view) cameras. The main difference in the camera package for the two devices is the zoom camera – the Magic 4 is armed with an 8-megapixel periscope telephoto shooter with an f/3.4 aperture and 5x optical zoom, while the more expensive Magic 4 Pro has a 64-megapixel f/3.5 periscope telephoto shooter with a 3.5x optical zoom, PDAF, and OIS. A fourth ToF camera is also included in the phone’s optical package.
As far as the processor is concerned, both handsets come with Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, which is coincidentally the same processor that powers the phones that Honor is going up against. RAM options are pegged at either 8GB or 12GB, while storage options include 128GB, 256GB or 512GB. The Magic 4 Pro will only come in either 256GB or 512GB of storage.
Honor is dangling 100W SuperCharging to entice buyers to go with the Magic 4 Pro VS the vanilla model, though while the Magic 4 has a slower 66W charging speed, it also has a slightly bigger battery than its more expensive brother at 4800mAh (the Magic 4 Pro only has 4600mAh).
While Honor is a completely separate company from Huawei moving forward, that doesn’t mean it’s not open to copying its former parent company’s strategy. In that regard, it’s also releasing its own line of accessories to complement its smartphone lineup, mainly in the form of the Honor Watch GS 3 smartwatch, and the Honor Earbuds 3 Pro.
Honor Magic 4 and Magic 4 Pro Price
The Honor Magic 4 8GB/256GB variant has a price of €899 (Php 51.7K), while the similar 8GB/256GB variant of the Magic 4 Pro is priced at €1,099 (Php 63.1K).
