FaceBook Launches Dedicated Mobile App For Gaming

It’s available to download now

Facebook has created a dedicated mobile app for Android and iOS, with the Android version available to download right now from Google Play.

Dubbed Facebook Gaming, it’s the latest push by the social media juggernaut into the highly profitable gaming space, creating a home for around 700 million of its users that are highly engaged with gaming content.

While the apps have some simple games of its own, it’s primarily made for users to engage with gaming content with an emphasis on watching live gameplay which has ballooned thanks to stay at home orders as well as lockdowns all over the world.

Facebook has struggled to compete with other game-streaming services, and despite its efforts to poach top streamers and collaborations with local talent, the company still lags behind both YouTube and Twitch in total hours watched. One nice feature about Facebook’s dedicated app though is the Go Live feature, which allows users to upload streams of mobile games on the same device.

You can download the app now via Google Play – the iOS version is still pending approval.
