Sony Expands Focus On PlayStation in PH, Promises Local Launches of AAA Titles

It’s a good time to own a PlayStation

Today Sony invited select media for a briefing of sorts for their PlayStation initiative. Aside from talking about the company’s upcoming Software Update 1.7 (which introduces a few new features to the already robust featureset on the PS4), the company also talked about the future of the PlayStation family in the Philippines.

While Sony has had a presence in the country for a few years now, the Japanese firm wants to expand their reach in the gaming community as a whole. This means that the company will be supporting and conducting game launches in the Philippines for their first party titles (games developed by Sony Computer Entertainment), as well as select AAA titles like they do in other Asian countries like Singapore. They will also be beefing up the PlayStation titles available in the PH, and has promised to expand the game selection available in Sony stores.

Unfortunately, Sony still hasn’t sorted out the Sony Entertainment Network issues, and still recommend people to register and log-in using other countries’ SEN (which now accepts PH issued credit cards). Sony is still mum on the cause of delay for the launching of the SEN PH, though if we had to guess it’d would be because of draconian and backwards government regulation that’s holding them back.

As far as game schedules go, the company will be launching a couple of new games and new functionality for the PS4 in the PH like we mentioned earlier. Here’s the list:
