It’s a big piece of technological marvel
Among the key pieces that LG will be introducing in CES 2018 is this ginormous OLED TV that supports 8K resolution. Coming in at 88 inches, this OLED TV is 10 inches bigger than LG’s biggest OLED TV as of the meantime (which is at a huge 77-inches).
Being an 8K TV, its official resolution is double that of 4K TVs, at 7680 x 4320 pixels. That’s a hell lot of pixels to deal with! There are two problems with this giant piece of technological marvel: 1) There’s very little support for 8K video so far, save for Japan’s limited 8K broadcast offering via NHK, and 2) There’s little to no chance of us to buy one in the near future. For reference, LG’s 77-inch OLED TV costs a whopping $20,000, which translates to roughly almost a million Pesos.
Nonetheless, we give props to LG for pushing technology to the limit with this offering.
