The company removed the tablets tab in the Android website
Tablet sales have been tanking in the past few years, with sales dropping continuously, hitting a new low last quarter with just 33 million units shipped. There’s few companies left making decent tablets, and it’s not surprising that Google is finally giving up on it.
A cursory look at the company’s Android website shows only Phones, Wear TV, Auto and Enterprise as listed as the sections for Android. Earlier there was an entry for Tablets.
If you’re a fan of Android tablets, you don’t need to fret: companies can still shoehorn Android into slates, though Google wont’ be prioritizing creating new features and support for slates any time soon.
