5 Alternatives to the Zenfone Selfie

Can’t wait for the Selfie?

If you’re a selfie addict and can’t wait for ASUS to officially launch the Zenfone Selfie, you don’t have to panic. There’s a myriad of selfie-focused smartphones that are already available here in the PH for you to enjoy. We’ve compiled 5 alternatives (in no particular order) to ASUS’ upcoming Selfie that you can buy now if you want to scratch that selfie itch.

Oppo-N3-02

OPPO N3

While not advertised as being a selfie phone per se, the OPPO N3 fits the bill perfectly. The OPPO N3 is a perfect phone for selfies because it uses a single camera for both selfies and regular snaps – a 16-megapixel Schneider Kreuznach unit that can rotate to the front from the back, and vice-versa. Because the phone uses a motorized camera, it can pull off perfect panoramas of stunning vistas as well as take a great photo of you even in a darkened club.

Cherry Mobile Selfie

ASUS isn’t the only company that has a phone with the word selfie in it. Cherry Mobile’s Selfie smartphone is a more feminine-looking smartphone that’s obviously aimed at women, though dudes won’t be embarrassed to own it. The Selfie is a uniquely shaped smartphone that packs a 13-megapixel front and back camera, just like ASUS’ Selfie offering. The difference though is that the Selfie from Cherry Mobile doesn’t have a front-facing flash for the selfie camera, though it does have beautification features much like most of the phones in this list. The Selfie is priced at Php 7,999.

Starmobile Up Vision

When you think of selfie phones, Starmobile’s Up Vision might not make your shortlist, but it totally should. While it’s claim to fame is its digital TV capabilities, it’s also a mean selfie machine as it sports an 8-megapixel, Samsung-powered front camera with an LED flash and beautification features. It’s also quite affordable sporting a Php 4,990 price tag.

MyPhone Rio Pixie

If you haven’t guessed, the Pixie is part of MyPhone’s burgeoning Rio lineup of phones aimed at youths and young professionals. The Pixie is quite smaller than the other phones in this article, sporting a 4.8-inch HD AMOLED display, along with an 8-megapixel front camera with a Sony sensor and an 8-megapixel rear camera with a Samsung sensor. MyPhone’s thrown in the Fotoku Selfie app and beautification features, along with a selfie stick with every purchase of the Pixie. The Pixie is priced at Php 7,599.

Microsoft Lumia 735

The only non Android-powered smartphone in our list today is Microsoft’s Lumia 735, powered by Windows Phone 8.1 The 735 is Microsoft’s attempt to jump in on the selfie phone bandwagon while retaining the trademark look their Lumia lineup of phones are known for. The Lumia 735 has a 5-megapixel front camera with a 24mm focal length which allows users to fit more people in the frame, which is important for group selfies. As far as specs go, the 735 is decently specc’d, and has a 4.7-inch AMOLED HD display, Snapdragon 400 processor and is LTE capable.
