Meet the Cherry Mobile Fusion Storm
The Cherry Mobile Fusion Storm is Cherry Mobile’s newest budget-friendly, bang-for-your-buck Android tablet. It features a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and a 7.85-inch display. It actually looks a whole lot like the iPad Mini (it’s the trend these days, lol) except that it has a rubbery back plate with some sort of texture/pattern. The big news here though is that it just retails for Php3,699! If you’re looking for a really low-cost tablet, you might wanna check this one out.

Packaging and Unboxing
Despite being a budget tablet, the Fusion Storm came in a slick red carton box. Just like what we did with the Cherry Mobile Superion Odyssey, we peeled off the tape along the sides and popped open the lid. We were greeted by the Fusion Storm covered with foam and wrapped with plastic. We picked it up, removed the wrappings, and got a feel for it. Definitely inspired by the iPad Mini yet again, hehe.
Other than the tablet, the box had the usual stuff: manual, quick start guide, wall charger, and USB to micro USB. Unfortunately no earphones or other freebies.
We know we can’t be picky with freebies when products sell at this price but hey they could have also bundled a jelly case or screen protector for this, hehe.
Initial Review
The Fusion Storm has the same form factor (but not materials) as the Apple iPad Mini. It’s made primarily of plastic and some sort of rubbery material at the back. Buttons are arranged differently though. The Power Lock and Volume Rocker are both found at the bottom while the other ports like micro USB, headphones, and TFT Card were situated at the top. It looks like the Cherry Mobile Fusion Storm was meant to be held and used in landscape orientation.
In terms of performance you get what you pay for with the Fusion Storm. That Dual-core processor won’t mutate to a quad-core processor overnight, lol. There are noticeable lags and delays especially when there are a lot of things happening on the screen. However these are manageable.
The main strength of the Fusion Storm, other than being affordable, is that it’s actually a decent portable media player. You have a lot of storage with this one since it has 8GB internal, expandable, and it’s even compatible with USB OTG. If you’re looking for a tablet that you will mostly use as an e-reader and a video player, this one should be on your list for the sheer practicality of it. After all it’s not everyday you get to see nice-looking and fully functional Android tablets for Php3,699.
