OPPO Announces K9 5G in China

OPPO is back with a new K-series phone in China with the K9 5G. As a successor to the K7 and K7x, the K9 gets a few key upgrades to make it a more compelling mid-range 5G phone.

OPPO K9 5G Specs:

Compared to the K7, the K9 gets a slight processor upgrade with a Snapdragon 768G processor—which is essentially a higher-clocked version of the Snapdragon 765G found in most mid-range 5G phones. Like its predecessor, the K9 will come in 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB variants.  For software, you are getting Android 11-based ColorOS 11.1.

The display on the K9 may be a smidge smaller than that of the K7, but you are getting a smoother 90hz refresh rate and a better 180hz touch response rate.

On the camera department, you still get the same 32-megapixel selfie snapper, and the rear camera setup is one snapper less—though the main camera is now a higher-resolution 64-megapixel camera. The battery on the K9 is also bigger at 4300mAh and comes with OPPO’s fast 65w wired charging solution. Other features include a headphone jack, 360-degree surround antenna for better reception, and dual-mode 5G support.

OPPO K9 5G Price

The K9 is priced at CNY 1999(~Php 14.9k) for the 8GB/128GB model and CNY 2199(~Php 16.4k) for the 8GB/256GB variant. It is currently available for pre-order in China, and will go on sale officially on May 11. OPPO has yet made the K-series available outside of China, so there’s no word if the K9 will be available globally.
