Black Shark has announced its new crop of gaming phones under the 5 series. There’s the vanilla model, the Pro model, and an RS model that is more of an upgrade over the Black Shark 4 Pro.

Common specs between the three models include 120w charging, a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 144hz refresh rate and 720hz touch response rate, 20-megapixel selfie snapper, shoulder keys, stereo speakers, 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and 5-megapixel telemacro camera.

The Black Shark 5 Pro and 5 RS are the more interesting phones in the bunch, as they employ a UFS 3.1 + SSD solution that’s similar to what the top-end Legion Y90 has to offer. With the dual-storage design, Black Shark employed DM Cache technology to improve the random read and write performance–on top of having RAM disks for instances where faster storage is needed.

Both the vanilla and Pro model have a 4650mAh battery, while the RS has a smaller 4500mAh battery. The Pro is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, while the vanilla model gets a Snapdragon 870. As for the RS model, the 8GB variant has a Snapdragon 888, while the 12GB variant has a Snapdragon 888+.

The Black Shark 5 Pro starts at CNY 4200(~Php 34.4k), while its vanilla sibling starts at CNY 2700(~Php 22.1k). The Black Shark 5 RS, on the other hand, starts at CNY 3300(~Php 27k). All three models will be available starting April 2 at Black Shark’s online store.
