The Lenovo Legion Y90 Comes with RAID 0 Storage Option

After being teased several times, Lenovo unveiled its latest gaming phone to join the Legion Phone Duel 2 with the Legion Y90 in China. While it does share the same gaming-focused design of the Leigion Phone Duel 2, the Y90 does away with the pop-up camera and uses a more conventional 16-megapixel selfie shooter found on the phone’s bezel.

Lenovo Legion Y90 Specs:

  • Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor
  • 12GB/16GB/18GB LPDDR5 RAM
  • 256GB/512GB UFS 3.1 storage
  • 128GB SSD storage (RAID 0) (18GB variant)
  • 6.92-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display, 144hz refresh rate, 2.8ms response rate, 720hz touch sampling rate, 10-bit color
  • 64-megapixel f/1.9 main camera with PDAF, 13-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera
  • 16-megapixel f/2.0 selfie camera
  • 4G, 5G
  • WiFi 6e, Bluetooth 5.2, in-display fingerprint scanner
  • Dual USB-C ports
  • Stereo speakers, dual cooling fans, capacitive shoulder buttons
  • 5600mAh 2-cell battery
  • 68w fast charging
  • Android 11

Being more powerful than the Legion Phone Duel 2 with its use of a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, the Legion Y90’s top-end variant has 18GB RAM, 512GB UFS 3.1 storage, and a 128GB SSD storage that works in RAID 0. The addition of an SSD in RAID 0 configuration aims to improve load times for games.

The screen remains the same in the form of a large 6.92-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with 144hz refresh rate, 2.8ms response rate, 720hz touch sampling rate, and 10-bit color, and the same goes for the dual rear cameras: 64-megapixel f/1.9 main camera with PDAF, 13-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera. Despite the display being practically the same, Lenovo touts an improved 3.4ms latency and 1300nits maximum brightness.

The Legion Y90’s shoulder triggers are split into two, and cooling is done with dual fans, a graphene sheet, and a vapor chamber. Powering the phone is a 5600mAh battery with support for 68w wired charging.

The Legion Y90 is priced at CNY 4299(~Php 35k) for the 12GB/256GB model, CNY 4599(~Php 37.4k) for the 16GB/512GB model, and CNY 5299(~Php 43.1k) for the 18GB/640GB (512GB UFS 3.1 + 128GB SSD). All three variants will get a CNY 300(~Php 2.5k) discount for those who will pre-order until March 10.

No word yet if Lenovo will make the Legion Y90 available in other countries.
