The Galaxy A51 and A71 Get 5G Variants in the US

Same phones, but with 5G connectivity

Roughly four months after being official as 4G phones, Samsung has made the 5G versions of the Galaxy A51 and A71 official in the US. Both phones are identical to their 4G-only counterparts, save for two key differences: both have a different prism back panel design and make use of Samsung’s Exynos 980 processor. In addition, the Galaxy A51 5G gets a bigger 4500mAh battery.

Launched last September 2019, the Exynos 980 is Samsung’s first processor to have an integrated 5G modem. It is manufactured using an 8nm process, has two Cortex-A77 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores, a Mali-G76 GPU, and a dedicated NPU. Aside from the Galaxy A51 5G and A71 5G, the Exynos 980 is also used on the Vivo X30, X30 Pro, and S6.
