The Huawei Mate 9 Finally Launches: A Kirin 960 Flagship Phab with Dual Leica Cameras

Finally. Weeks of leaked info, renders, photos have now led to this, the official product unveiling. Huawei’s most anticipated Galaxy Note 7 contender, the Huawei Mate 9 has just been introduced at an event in Munich, Germany. Let’s check if this beast can compete with the best flagship phablets out right now.

At a quick glance, the highlights for the Mate 9 are its new and powerful Kirin 960 octa-core chipset, the new Bifrost generation Mali GPU, and of course, the dual Leica camera sensors. It’ll be interesting to see how these new snappers perform compared to the likes of the Note 7 and Apple’s iPhone 7 optics. Everything else checks out as high-end, flagship internals.

According to Huawei, the Mate 9 will be launched first in China, where its rumored that a “Pro” version is also in the works with a QHD display and more RAM, storage. France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates will be the next target markets to be graced by the Mate 9. Other countries will follow later on.

The Mate 9 is currently priced at 699 EUR (~Php 38K), though, the price tag is expected to be adjusted for different regions.
