Xiaomi Launches First Tablet in 3 Years with Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro

After 3 years since the Mi Tab 4, Xiaomi is finally back into making their own tablets with the Mi Pad 5 series. Comprising of a vanilla and Pro model, both Mi Pad 5s offer the best possible hardware on a tablet, the Pro model offering a 5G option.

Common between both models is an 11-inch display with 120hz refresh rate, 10-bit color, True Tone tech, and up to 500nits brightness. Both support a magnetic keyboard cover and stylus, with the latter having a 240hz touch sampling rate, two buttons, and up to 8 hours of battery life. You also get a quad-speaker system with support for Dolby Atmos.

Thr Mi Pad 5 only comes with WiFi and is powered by a Snapdragon 860 processor that is paired with 6GB RAM and up to 128GB of storage. Its rear camera setup consists of a 13-megapixel snapper, while an 8720mAh battery that supports 33w charging powers the tablet.

The Mi Pad 5 Pro, on the other hand, is powered by a Snapdragon 870 processor that is paired with up to 8GB RAM and up to 256GB internal storage. You get a slightly smaller 8600mAh battery on the Mi Pad 5 Pro, but the trade off is a vastly faster 67w wired charging. The Mi Pad 5 Pro gets an additional 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, while the 5G variant upgrades the main camera to a 50-megapixel sensor.

The Mi Pad 5 is priced at CNY 1999(~Php 15.6k) for the 128GB variant and CNY 2299(~Php 17.9k) for the 256GB variant. The Mi Pad 5 Pro, on the other hand, is priced at CNY 2499(~Php 19.5k) for the 6GB/128GB model and CNY 2799(~Php 21.8k) for the 6GB/256GB model. The variant with 5G is priced at CNY 3499(~Php 27.3k) for the 8GB/256GB variant. Both models are available for pre-order in China.
