A big chunk will come from ad credits
Aside from launching a centralized COVID-19 search hub, Google announced that it is committing over $800 million to help small and medium businesses (SMBs), governments and health organizations in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic.
The commitment includes $250 million in ad grants to help the World Health Organization (WHO) and various government agencies across the globe in providing the right information about COVID-19, $20 million in ad credits to help NGOs and community financial institutions in running announcements for relief operations, $200 million investment funds for NGOs and community financial institutions to help SMBs, $340 million in Google Ads credits for active SMBs, and $20 million in Google Cloud credits to help academic institutions and researchers in finding ways to combat COVID-19.
On top of the $800 million commitment, Google will be providing financial support in the production o PPEs and lifesaving medical devices and increase its annual gift match for its employees to $10,000, which can be donated to organizations within their communities.
