HMD Global Trademarks Asha Brand In Latest Document

*This is the Nokia Asha 503

Will we be seeing the brand soon?

HMD Global has been doing a great job so far in resurrecting the Nokia brand. Lately, it has been trademarking brands and patents associated with Nokia, and this includes the Asha brand, which has spotted in a document:

Just to recap, Asha is a sub-brand under Nokia before the latter was bought by Microsoft. The line produced a few phones that include the Asha 501, the Asha 309, the Asha 303, and the Asha 503. These phones are powered by Java or Symbian, providing smartphone-like functions on a feature phone.

We have to wait for HMD Global’s plans for the Asha brand for the meantime. Does this mean affordable (and durable) feature phones are making a return? For now, our most plausible explanation for the Asha brand would be using it for the rumored QWERTY Nokia phone reported a few weeks ago.
